genius Porsche Engineers in Stuttgart have found another way to make money out of their clients’ pockets. The infamous sports car brand has found its own list of options. Notably, a rear windshield wiper costs a few hundred dollars over nearly $100,000. If you can think of it, there is a way to spend money on it for your own Porsche. Colorful seat belts, stitching, exterior script, embossing, and a plethora of wheels are all key options on the menu. But for a long time, Porsche missed the emerging trends on the Internet. It has been seeing a surge in popularity lately, and the wild movement usually sees SUVs converting into mainly mobile homes. To some extent, the original Cayenne model underwent this treatment.
Jealous of this lost potential revenue, Porsche is now offering a wild-style roof tent for its favorite model, the 911. According to PorschePractical Adventure Equipment turns a sports car into a hotel room for nature lovers,” encouraging their customers to use their vehicles in whatever way they can continue to support their customers.
Porsche’s latest option allows its customers to explore the great outdoors with this branded roof tent.
What is the wild trend?
With most of the world’s population now living in cities, getting away from nature is more common than ever. When this desire conflicts with the competitiveness of social media, it generates a wild movement. A subset of the off-road kits in the motoring community use heavily modified cars. Most often these are SUVs. However, the occasional sports car is transformed into an off-road or dirt track machine.
With the rapid popularity, more and more people want to use their cars as one-stop outdoor exploration machines. These individuals need a lot of aftermarket parts. Think lifestyle gear like kayaks and paddleboards. But also off-road equipment, such as bull bars, winches and searchlights. Let’s not forget about the shelter either. These tents are usually roof-mounted or built into the bed of a pickup truck.
Why buy a Porsche roof tent?
Porsche has long held the position as the usable supercar. More specifically, this moniker belongs to the Porsche 911 Turbo S. But the other models in its range offer this spice while also offering the benefits of the class in question. The roof tent not only supports 911, but also supports Macan, Cayenne, Panamera and Taycan. Cayman and Boxster owners cannot use this tent, nor can they use GT, Cabriolet or Targa models. The tent is suitable for transportation systems on supported car roofs. Previously, these systems supported roof boxes, ski racks, and the like. In other words, a way to enable Porsche customers to embrace all aspects of life, strengthening their qualifications as the everyday supercar suitable for even the harshest conditions.
Porsche explains that this roof tent will affect the handling characteristics of the model. Most importantly, all vehicles when fitted with this roof tent have a top speed of 130 km/h which is approximately 80 mph. So customers will have to stick to the speed limits with this roof tent installation. It weighs 56 kg, and all this is added to the top of the car, and this will certainly negatively affect the handling of the Porsche. But in no case should this option spoil a road trip because these cars are among the most capable on the planet.
According to PorscheIn May, they unveiled a concept for this option. Dubbed the Porsche Travel Experience, Porsche took two travel influencers on scenic road trips with a pre-production orange and gray version of the tent. This came installed on top of the Porsche Taycan Turismo. For exploring the Black Forest and the Rhine, this tent opens up some of the world’s most rural areas for Porsche owners to explore.
What distinguishes the Porsche roof tent?
With the ever-growing popularity of land structures, the Porsche tent has a lot to rival. The tent has two side windows and one roof window. It’s all season and can comfortably accommodate two. So while this may suit the likes of the Macan and Panamera, this may be more suitable for 911 buyers. Measuring 210cm x 130cm, the base of the tent has a built-in mattress, making it a completely compact solution. Like all Porsche products, the tent comes well designed. With breathable cotton walls, minimal condensation should build up overnight. Notably, for Porsche enthusiasts, the classic Porsche side streak comes printed along the side. As standard, the tent offers the same as traditional tents, including windows that open for ventilation and a black-out lining to improve sleep quality.
Available in black and light gray or black and dark gray, customers can find an official Porsche tent to match their vehicle’s aesthetic. This all comes at 4,980 euros which is just over $5,000 and will first reach consumers in November of this year. Never be satisfied with the number of options a customer can select, and Porsche Techequipment will continue to offer more wild accessories including indoor tent, heated blanket and various organizing equipment.
