Applications are invited to 5 years provisional Lecturer/Associate Professor Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (Fluid Mechanics) position at UCD School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering

The school recently launched a new dual undergraduate degree program in Automotive Engineering, at CDIC, Chang’an-Dublin International College of Transportation in collaboration with Chang’an University, in Xi’an, China. The successful applicant will play a key role in the delivery of this program and will spend one semester teaching at CDIC each year. The School will provide the successful candidate with funding to support the PhD student for a period of four years, upon commencement of the position.

The School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering is a dynamic, research-driven school with a clear focus on providing excellent educational programmes. The school is home to Ireland’s National Manufacturing Research Centre, www.i-form.ieIts faculty members conduct research in all aspects of mechanical engineering.

The successful appointee will be encouraged to develop his or her own research agenda in a relevant area, and to explore research collaborations with colleagues at CDIC. There is also a strong synergy of fluid mechanics research across the broader university, including Science Foundation Ireland’s National Center for Advanced Manufacturing, I-Form, and the Energy Institute at UCD. The school’s core values ​​are excellence in both research and teaching, and a willingness to engage in university and professional life.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to actively participate in the School’s research and make a significant contribution to teaching and university life. The School is recruiting suitably qualified candidates, with experience in Automotive and/or Mechanical Engineering, and with a strong background in Fluid Mechanics.

The successful candidate will design and deliver a set of three modules starting at the introductory level and ending with the application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in an automotive context.

As part of their application, applicants are required to submit: – a two-page research statement, outlining their research plans; A two-page instructional statement, outlining their planned approach to teaching and unit development.

95 lecturers / assistant professors above the Bar Association salary scale: €55,951 – €88,601 per year

Recruitment will be done on a large scale and in accordance with the guidelines of the Department of Finance.
