Renntech’s 615-HP 1992 Mercedes-Benz 600 SEL Restomod Packs A Ridiculous 7.6-Lit V12

Mercedes Benz It is one of the best car manufacturers in the world. Over many decades, they have produced some great cars ranging from sports cars to sedans to supercars and the iconic G-Wagen. Some of their best cars are their classic cars, like Mercedes-Benz 600 SE. This is one of the best sedans the company has ever made, and it would be hard to find something better than it. but, Maybe Renntech found a way to improve it.

Enter the amazing 1992 Mercedes-Benz 600 SEL Restomod. This is something pretty amazing that came out recently, taking the 600 SEL to the next level. The company is one of the top names when it comes to actually modifying Mercedes-Benz products, and this is their latest machine. What they’ve come up with is what they’re now called the S76R which they say has the most powerful naturally aspirated V12 engine they’ve ever come up with. And this V12 engine packs a big punch. So let’s take a closer look at this absolutely gorgeous masterpiece.

What lies under the hood of the Renntech S76R

When you see a product from Renntech, you have to sit down and take notes. What the company did for the first time started with the 6.0-liter Mercedes M120 V12 engine. This is one of the best engines Mercedes has ever produced, but Renntech has taken it to new heights. It has now been restored and beaten, giving the M120 a massive 7.6-liter displacement. This is an increase in the same displacement as the V6 engines in an F1 car. How they achieved this massive gain is equally impressive.

What Renntech did was add new internal elements to the engine. We have new titanium connecting rods, as well as AMG cams. Moveable heads are now being added, as are titanium baffles and some honeycomb valve springs. To feed the engine its fuel, there are also three-pound fuel injectors in the car. Renntech has added its own airbox design to the engine, too, with stainless steel exhaust tips, sport catalysts and quad mufflers. It all adds up to a really nice 615 horsepower, all coming out of polished stainless steel exhaust tips with a great V12 soundtrack.

A powerful and powerful Mercedes sedan

The 615-horsepower V12 allows Renntech to reach a top speed of 155 mpg. Renntech says the car should hit the 0-60 mph figure in about 5-5.4 seconds, which is pretty impressive. Renntech didn’t limit its changes to just the engine, far from it. They took the four-speed automatic transmission from the 1992600 SEL and replaced it entirely. It now features an upgraded five-speed transmission from the car’s 1996 version, and for added performance, an OS Giken limited-slip differential is now added as well. Make no mistake, these are some very major upgrades.

What was done after that? Well for starters, there are new brakes for Mercedes. The discs are carbon-ceramic, with six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear. The front discs measure 15.38 inches while the rear discs measure 14.17 inches. Renntech has also worked its magic on the suspension with shorter coil springs, and the second-generation adaptive damper system is another feature. While the mechanical side of things is the main focus, the exterior and interior are equally important.

Upgrades to the outside and inside for Mercedes

While the car looks quite stocked on the outside, Renntech has added a few upgrades of its own. For starters, there’s the front splitter, followed by the rear lip spoiler. Side-slot moldings are another exterior feature, as is the AMG ground-impact package. One-time forged aluminum wheels are another feature. Renntech has tried very hard to maintain the original interior look, but there are some upgrades. These are the new diamond-stitched seats, lots of carbon fiber rides as well as the Alcantar headliner. These add a touch of modernity to the classic interior design.

Taking a classic Mercedes to a new level

Renntech has certainly taken this classic Mercedes machine to whole new heights. The addition of extra power makes this one of the most powerful Mercedes sedans any of us can have, and it’s refreshing to see some of the interior changes while keeping it, as well as the exterior, as close to the original design as humanly possible. Restomods can sometimes be polarizing, but if done with taste they can be simply beautiful. This category falls very much into that latter category, and we should commend Renntech very much for the work they have put into this masterpiece.
